Nestled in the Hickory Nut Gorge, Lake Lure’s centerpiece is its stunning, 750-acre manmade lake. Surrounded by granite mountains, the town is close to Chimney Rock State Park, and the cities of Hendersonville, Rutherford, and Asheville.
Home to just over 1,000 permanent residents, Lake Lure lies in the thermal belt and enjoys moderate temperatures throughout the year. It has been featured in several movies, including the famous “lake lift” scene in “Dirty Dancing.” Outdoor adventures abound, with hiking, rock climbing, and bouldering at nearby Rumbling Bald Trail, stunning views of the Gorge at Chimney Rock State Park, swimming at Lake Lure beach, and a pretty, flower-filled walking path across the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge. Golf enthusiasts will love the three golf courses; two are private, and one is public.
Lake Lure is a popular tourist destination, and you’ll find its tight-knit community to be friendly and welcoming to visitors and new residents alike!
