Market and Trends

The National Association of Realtors has announced that existing home sales increased by 5.25% in January. This was the first time in seven months that NAR has reported an increase in existing homes sales over the same period the year prior. NAR states, "The extremely favorable housing affordability conditions are a big factor, but buyers have been constrained by unnecessarily tight credit. As a result, there are abnormally high levels of all-cash purchases, along with rising investor activity." Investors accounted for some 23% of these sales. The national median existing home sales price in January was $158,800, which is down 3.3% from January 2010. Total housing inventory actually decreased by 5.1% throughout the nation.

Community and County Information

The indoor firing range and Edneyville Campus of the Justice Academy is well underway and is now "dried in". The building is quite large and appears to be totally encased in concrete on the interior with a metal building shell. This facility is suppose to have no noise which we are very grateful for as the once proposed outdoor range would have been a constant noise nuisance.
