Market and Trends$8000.00 Tax Credit!
The new stimulus package contains a bill which provides for an $8,000 tax credit that would be available to first-time home buyers for the purchase of a principal residence on or after January 1, 2009 and before December 1, 2009. The credit does not require repayment. Most of the mechanics of the credit will be the same as under the 2008 rules: the credit will be claimed on a tax return to reduce the purchaser's income tax liability. If any credit amount remains unused, then the unused amount will be refunded as a check to the purchaser. Community and County InformationSix Edneyville residents met with the County Planning staff on February 10th to discuss zoning recommendations for the county’s ongoing “Small Area Planning” efforts. Planning chief Anthony Star said his department has compiled a list of recommendations aimed at maintaining the rural character and low population density for the community. Topics included building and roof design standards, landscaping, strip malls, parking lot design and many other suggestions for the committee to present in up coming public hearings.Local residents are still working to stop the proposed outdoor firing range at the Justice Academy in Edneyville. Currently the County Commissioners as well as residents working on a solution for this issue have asked the state to give them more time to plan for a safer indoor facility. Discussions continue.
