Community and County InformationThe Edneyville Community held an Appreciation Diner for those that were so instrumental in defeating the outdoor firing range at the Justice Academy in Edneyville on September 12th a the new Edneyville Community Center. Several of the our representatives, commissioners and local politicians were in attendance. We would like to thank everyone that worked so hard on this issue to help preserve the quiet enjoyment of our community.The Hickory Nut Gorge Hiking Club in conjunction with several organized groups and private landowners including the Carolina Mtn Land Conservancy, Foothills Conservancy, The Town of Lake Lure and several other groups are working together to create a Hiking Trail System with in Hickory Nut Gorge. There are several trails which are already in place but the intention of these groups is to create a hiking trail system that would allow hikers to travel the entire length of the Hickory Nut Gorge and would also include trails within Chimney Rock State Park. The proposed trail system map can be seen by clicking here. Once complete this trail system would allow hikers the opportunity to enjoy the diverse vegetation, wildlife and scenery from the slopes of Little Pisgah in far northwestern reach of Hickory Nut Gorge to Chimney Rock State Park and Worlds Edge. There are many designated Significant National Heritage Areas along this hiking route as shown on the map mentioned above. |
