Market and TrendsExisting home sales rose for the third consecutive month with inventory easing and home prices declining less sharply in June, according to the National Association of Realtors.Existing home sales increased 3.6 percent in June. Lawrence Yun, chief economist for NAR says, "The increase in existing home sales occurred in all major regions of the country. We expect a gradual uptrend in sales to continue due to tax-incentives and historically high affordability conditions." Total housing inventory fell by 0.7 percent in June across the nation which is another good sign that things are looking up. The $8,000 first time home buyer tax credit will expire at the end of November. If you have not owned a primary residence in the past three years you qualify for this credit. Give our office a call and we can email you a copy of the IRS form which will outline the qualification procedures for this tax credit. This is one of the best incentives we have seen in years and if you qualify please do not let this opportunity pass. With adequate inventory and low interest rates coupled with this tax credit this may be the best time we have ever seen for folks that qualify for this tax credit to buy a home. Don’t wait until last minute, you must close and occupy the home prior to November 30, 2009. We are starting to see increases in local traffic here in the office. Sales are up from previous months and there seems to be more folks out looking. We are hopeful that this trend will continue as folks continue to gain confidence in the market and see that with low interest rates, tax-credits and lots of inventory, now may be the best time ever to buy a home or property. |
