Community and County InformationThe Henderson County Commissioners have passed an amendment to the zoning code which will affect new developments in Rural Agricultural Areas. The new code will require developers of subdivisions with ten or more lots which are located in a Rural Agricultural Area (RAA) to have wells drilled on a minimum of 60% of the lots and show adequate water supply before any development or land disturbing activity can take place.The current situation with the firing range at the Campus of the Western North Carolina Justice Academy in Edneyville is still an ongoing issue for local residents. It appears that the Academy continues looking into the potential to build a firing range on property which is currently North Carolina Game lands located in the southern part of the county. Our state representatives, Carolyn Justus and Tom Apodoca continue to work hard to get the outdoor range in Edneyville stopped. We are very appreciative of all their hard work. |
