Community and County InformationThe current situation with the firing range at the Campus of the Western North Carolina Justice Academy in Edneyville is still an ongoing issue for local residents. State Representative, Carolyn Justus is set to make a committee presentation in Raleigh on Tuesday, May 5th to argue against putting an outdoor range at Edneyville. We are hopeful that this goes well.It appears that the Academy continues looking into the potential to build a firing range on property which is currently North Carolina Game lands located in the southern part of the county. Local game lands officials have met with officials from the Justice Academy to look into possible locations and discuss an agreement for such a facility to be use by the Justice Academy, Wildlife officials and possibly the public. Our state representatives, Carolyn Justus and Tom Apodoca continue to work hard to get the outdoor range in Edneyville stopped. We are very appreciative of all their hard work. |
